Pin album list / song list
With all my suggestions and concerns regarding id3 images and other small things... i tend to lose focus on the big ones. The one MAJOR thing i'd
like to see happen; hell; even pay for - is the "stay in album mode / song mode" pin suggestion. I believe most people want this in one way
or another, and Pirk's suggestion is a great way of implementing this.
So easy, just check the checkbox, and you will stay in album mode wether you select an artist from the artist list, press alt + initial, select an
genre... it's beautiful.
I've been rambing about the album list and all the features from the song list which i'd like to see in the album list as well, when this
suggestion implements it all.

Any thought on this, audiosoft?

Oh yes, junk!
Luckily you are here to relaunch a feature I expect since a very very long time. In fact since I know eJukebox...
So, I no longer dare to ask it again... But I still hope for!
Please Audiosoft,
That would be a super great feature! Sure, that becomes ESSENTIAL once you have a large collection of albums...
And that would solve the problem of scrolling with a too long Albumlist! Many times requested on your forums...
We are experiencing withdrawal symptoms without this feature  :mad: ...

How I precisely feel the Albumlist should works, for everybody good (I think!):
When the Albumlist is OPEN:
- Click on a letter in the reduced Artistlist -> Focus the Albumlist on the first Artist name beginning by this letter.
- Click on a Artist name in the Artistlist -> Focus the Albumlist on this Artist name
- Click on a Genre in the Genrelist -> Rebuild the Albumlist display with this Genre filter
- Click on a Year in the Yearlist -> Rebuild the Albumlist display with this Year filter
What should NOT change:
- Click on the Albums button -> Always open the WHOLE Albumlist
- Click on a artist name in the Albumlist -> List all the songs of this artist in the Songlist
- Click on a image in the Albumlist-> List the songs of this album in the Songlist
Of course, once you are in the Songlist any clicks in the Artist, Genre or Year list display the result in the songlist, as currently.
Thus, maybe it isn't even necessary to put any pin to obtain a smooth browsing in eJukebox.
Unless you prefer activate this mode only from a certain nomber of albums because that's not useful underneath. And like this eJukebox could
auto-adapt to the collection size of each user. Why not a pop up message:"Your collection has reach more than 100 albums. Would you like to
activate the album browsing mode?"
Audiosoft,
I think that could definitely GREATLY improve album browsing. Do you think it's plausible?

I agree, that would be the way i'd expect and want eJukebox to behave. But since i cannot speak for everyone else, i'd be satisfied with the
"pin" option, even though i'd probably like your last, "seamless" suggestion better.

junk, I confess... it's while trying another "rival" jukebox that I have seen a combined filter like the one I suggest in my latest post.
And yes, I think that could be better...

A rival jukebox, eh? You no-good, two-timing son of a..  ah, just
messing.
I'm always open for new options... allthough i know if eJukebox had the functions you've proposed in this thread, as well as fix the id3tag
image problems, i cannot see why i shouldn't be a lifetime user. But then again, that's what i said about my Amiga back in '94.

Sorry, you are right, the term "rival" is unsuitable... if I have make one think that I want to abandon eJ, of course it's not my
intention, at all... eJukebox is and will be the best! I love it, for life(!)
I just look round others jukebox to see if ever there was a good idea which could be used in eJukebox. Like for the last tried: a combined filter for
the albumlist. But it crash every 5 seconds... I never really use these craps!
Otherwise my second computer was an Atari 520STF and the first one an ORIC. Two great computers!

I confess to also running a second jukebox once in a while, there is one that, while not even coming close to eJukebox, has some features that I
really like and miss in eJukebox.
Just one example: This other jukebox can display for every track moved into the playlist its "ETP" (Estimated Time of Playing). It does so
by simpy adding all the times of tracks already in the playlist and the current date/time, so it will for example display "10:20p".
At a party, the user then knows more or less at what time he has to be ready to hit the dancefloor: at 10:20pm...Very cool.

Ahh... yes, that seems to be a very interesting feature. And yes, so cool!
I like the idea to display time based on the real hour.
Sure, that could be a plus for eJukebox.

Yeah, that would be awesome for the eJukebox in the youth club where i work. That way the kids would know when to come and dance or listen when their
tune will be played... and to leave in time when the song they hate comes...

After letting all the kids try out eJukebox for the first time at the youth club, i have to agree with Pirk (the third post in this thread)!

It matches with all the kids' assumptions of how the program would work. Most people found the idea of losing the album view mode for the song
list after clicking on an artist letter (or an artist name, as well) a tad confusing. If this setting either became default, or an option, we would
all be happier beings.

"....and drunk people", as we use to add here in Norway. I've experienced much of the same behaviour from people using eJukebox at
parties. Some people give up when they understand that they have to scroll through seven billion pages (it seems to them, at least) to get to the
album they wanted, after selecting the artist.
But neverless, even though eJukebox isn't made specifically for neither kids nor drunkards, they do set a standard for how things should act, in
order to be easy and understandable....

That's true, the "stay in album mode" seem to be an "evidence" expected by every non-initiated people who try to use eJukebox
instinctively. Of course the exact way to carry out that need to be discussed!
Sure, the frenzy feeled openning the albumlist should be able to continue! without be disappointed by a boring scrolling, or else quite dilute in the
songlist!
I exaggerate a bit speaking like that of a so great program, I'm sorry. But it miss so little in order that eJ reach the top!
Unless that a programming difficulty escape us?
Maybe that could be something I feel since a long time:
I don't know why, but eJukebox seem to be more comfortable juggling with songs than with albums.
Maybe Audiosoft could throw light on that for us.

I agree with you there, there's so little left to go before i feel that eJukebox is quite perfect.
I also get the feeling that eJukebox was designed with the songlist in mind. Take the artist list, for instance. It fits perfectly when you are in
song list mode, but in the album list mode, the artist list blocks your view of the albums to the left. This is just a small symptom, but i get the
idea that Audiosoft mainly wants people to use the song list mode, and that i am being a bit of an deviate, preferring to have the album list open all
the time, playing either entire albums or using the increasingly delicious random modes.
For me, that is eJukebox in its most impressive state, and what i always show to others when i want to demonstrate and brag about this great program.
