problem with Popups

I don't know if this has to do with this program or not, but I thought I would give posting here a try.

I love eJukebox. I have a PC dedicated to running eJukebox. The problem is, I get around 4-6 popup ads per hour. It is ruining the enjoyment of this program, and it is extremely annoying. Because I have a system that BARELY meets the requirements of eJuke, the popup ads are making the music skip when they pop up.

I am running Spybot S&D, and Spyware Blaster.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Paul & Paula

We are thinking about adding a popup blocker for when browsing the internet inside of eJukebox.

eJukebox does not come with any popups, ads, or spyware of any kind. Then only time you can get popups is if you surf the web inside of eJukebox and browse to a page with a popup. If you are not surfing the web inside of eJukebox then the popups must be coming from some other application.

Like messenger.

It would be more helpful to say what type of pop ups you are getting.

Messenger pops, pops wiht actual IE around em, ect.

Is it a fresh OS install?

find and download BOTH ad-aware ver.6 and spybot S&D ver.1.3 ... (you might have 1.2) install and run one at a time ... when you run them get the latest signature files (updates) first. do this with both. they will clean 99% of your pop-up problems especially on a machine that is connected to the internet with constant popups even though no one is using it. it will prevent the popups while surfing too. use the immunize feature in ad-aware ver.6

the best way to eliminate almost every pop-up problem now is if you are running XP to install the RC2 version of the XP service pack 2 ... it works AWESOME.

Sure, suggest installing SP2.

After all its only beta, has tons of bugs still, and will not be supported in a few months. Thats a good idea for a computer that should be stable and production quality.

Agreed.. No offence but I think It's a bad idea to install betas of windows.. Both for future upgrading and for stability general..

Well, that did it.

I downloaded Ad-Aware, updated the file, and ran a check. Found 134 problems. Fixed the problems, and everything is fine.

THANKS!

thanks, i'm glad i could be of some help.

fwiw, i have SP2 installed and running problem free on 4 of my personal systems. i have experienced nothing but improvements since installing it.

about me:
i own a computer retail storefront and have owned this successful operation for over 14 years. i started it up and worked it by myself for about 5 years until the 18 hour days became too much. i now have 5 employees and work only 12 hours a day. i also started and operate a successful webhosting business. currently i am developing a thriving home automation operation, working on my 5th and largest install to date.

Well, I must say that I am now enjoying eJukebox, where the popups made it impossible to use.

Thank you.

I am using Windows 98, so I can't use the SP2.

I used to work retail... I was an Area Sales Manager for RadioShack in the Downtown Chicago Loop. I worked a LOT of hours... I am now in business to business sales with a GREAT company - and I'm a Dad again!

Thanks again for the help!

paul,

CONGRATULATIONS! on your fatherhood! (and of course the MOTHER too!)

I was at a tradeshow recently in Chicago and I have to say the work they have done downtown and to the waterfront is incredible. It really seems to me to be one of the great cities of the US again.
