Move database from one machine to another

Is it possible to move the database from one machine to another? Or better yet can the database be located on a network share and be used in that manner?

I am building my database right now however adding 15000+ songs to a new database over 802.11b wireless is painfully slow and I would rather add the songs from the local server.
