Discord's worse than Twitter because you have to really connect the server to have the ability to OSRS gold observe any of the content or conversation going on in there as opposed to Twitter where it's all publically
available. You also need to maintain all the conversation happening in each station in order to really get any information from some of it as opposed
to Twitter where all the information is in one tweet or straight in that thread instead of hundreds or thousands of messages previously. Both aren't
great, but I will take news only on Twitter daily over news just on Discord, even though they really must measure up on utilizing the official site
and in-game messaging.
I know they do (I'm in it, but have everything muted except the information channel), but that's not completely true, because those messages are
taken from context, so you have to go back to the station and browse through all the discussion surrounding that message so as to understand what
it's actually referring to a lot of this time. That channel also gets a whole lot of crap you have to read past for to any meaningful messages
anytime among the jmods is performing back and forth discussion it completely spams up that channel with a ton of useless messages.
Sure Discord is easier to have longer talks in, I enjoy it for some smaller games, but for large games like RS which also means it kind of blocks out
anybody who just wants to receive their opinion on a topic across without spending hours sitting wading through all the other discussion going on - as
a platform for discussion, it's heavily biased toward those who will sit there all day reading through everything when you have this big of a
RuneScape playerbase. Your message just gets lost to the void if you aren't able to sit there all day.
I believe a good deal of businesses today are looking to save money by shifting their invoices, PR, and community things to Twitter run by a couple of
individuals instead of keeping forums, or customer support hotlines. YouTube is famed for having no client service, in which your only option when
faced with a predicament is to tweet at the CEO and pray that sufficient larger YouTubers retweet it that the company hears about it. I believe we'll
see exactly the same sort of thing happen here.
