cdripping & volume levels

Hi,
I'm thinking of purchasing audiosoft but have a question. Is there a way to control the volume level of a track when ripping it to mp3. I use microsoft media player right now and some tracks are ripped with so much volume, it plays back distorted. I can bring it down with sound forge but loose all the id tags when I save it.

Thanks

You could always hunt down a volume leveling plugin for winamp. That would probably do the trick. Other than that you'd have to edit the wav before it got converted and that would be a pain. I personally use exact audio copy (hunt on google for it if you're interested) and I think it has a leveling function, though I've never actually used it.
