i suppose ejukebox "failed" BEFORE while updating the file tags (stats) leaving them as .mp3~ . i don't think another program use this way to
update mp3 tags. ejukebox use this way, isn't it?

i have never seen ~ only .xxxx when writing to the mp3 while locked
i don't think EJ can rename anything ~. another app or windows maybe did it? maybe EJ needs admin rights?

ah ok sorry, if EJ use .xxxx and not .mp3~ then probably EJ is not the culprit! i was thinking to EJ because i use it almost exclusively to play my
music. maybe i tried another player briefly.. windows media player?

It could also be possible here that Windows Media Player is set to be the default player.

Probably the files are OK.
You just need to remove the ~.
If you search for .mp3~ to find them.
You may be able to make a bulk renaming by using the command prompt.
I suspected an unstable external hard drive to cause problem - niĆ³t sure about it though....
