Dell capacitors...
Suit Over Faulty Computers Highlights Dell’s Decline
Here is my Dell motherboard in July 2007:
Thankfully I complained... this PC was become extremely noisy! and after multiples repairs tentatives, Dell replaced it by a new model. But I never
thought the problem was so generalized... and so intentionally hidden by the manufacturer!

mine was not an optilex, but a dimension 8400. however it suffered exactly the same problems. probably the defective capacitors were on every Dell PCs
during this period...
you add the well known defective eatpipe issue on the dimension 8400 causing the cpu fan was always pumping at an abnormally elevated speed: very
noisy and no spare part available!
