Does it give an error # or .dll file name when this happens?

No.
I get the windows xp error reporting screen with the option to report it or not. I clicked on the details button, but it does not give an error
number, just a bunch of numbers and giberish.

Are you running XP Home or Professional Edition. Also how many MB of RAM do you have?
