FIXED 5.01 crashes on start up gdiplus error
Something told me to not try the upgrade, I have terrible luck with upgrades. At least I waited until the weekend was over. Anyway, Toward the end of
the splash screen it crashes. I am running XP Home on a Athlon 3700 and had no problems with the previous version. Is anybody else having problems?
Below is the error signature:
AppName: ejukebox.exe AppVer: 5.0.0.10 ModName: gdiplus.dll
ModVer: 5.1.3102.2180 Offset: 0010316d

RE: had no problems with the previous version
What was your previous version?
First try saving and replacing this HERE over your
C:\EJukebox\ejukebox.exe
Let me know if it will start now.
If that doesn't work I suspect you may be on XP SP1 with IE6 installed?
I would try updating to Internet Explorer 8 and see if that fixes it as you will need to anyway to enjoy new skins. If you can't update internet
explorer edit ejukebox.ini and find
[Skin]
Name=
change to
Name=Default
Save the ini and start EJukebox.

I was running SP2 with IE7. I went ahead and upgraded to IE8 and ran Ejukebox...same crash. So I changed the ini file. It loaded without a crash, but
with a fugly "skin" that hurt my eyes. I changed the skin back to what I had (the original blue one). It looked fine. I shut down and restarted and
it crashed again. Am I going to have to download new skins to run on this version? Tell me I'm not going to have to look at the hidious one that was
one there.
BTW, I'm not sure of the previous version, I downloaded an update early in the year...4.9x?

IE7/8 is good for new and old skins. Making the ini say EJ Remix instead of Default is fine. The start up screen says Finishing... when you get the
error right? I have updated the alpahexe exe HERE again so please try
that download and replace over your ejukebox.exe.

Yes, it is crashing when it says finishing. I replaced the exe file with the one you posted, but I am still crashing in the same fashion. Now even
when I change the ini file like you posted earlier, it is crashing again. I appreciate the help...am I the only one so far that has had this problem?

I have personally seen the gdiplus error on 1 computer with XP SP1 that was infected with viruses. I installed Win7 on that computer and EJ then
worked fine. I thought it was because of the viruses as I have installed it on 2 other XP computers without a problem. But there must be something
that is causing a gdiplus problem on some systems. I will keep trying to isolate the source. Thanks for testing the new exes.
.13 alphaexe is HERE please give that a go.
If that doesn't work find in ejukebox.exe ini
[ScrollSliders]
ArtistList=
SongAlbumList=
and make it
[ScrollSliders]
ArtistList=0
SongAlbumList=0
and see if it will start.

Hmm
So if you change the
[Skin]
Name=
to
Name=Default
It will start every time? Then Tools->Skin->EJ Remix
loads the blue skin. But when you close and restart you get the error again right?

ok thanks. please download alphaexe again - the message boxes will no longer appear and hopefully it will start now. If not let me know what the
startup screen caption shows... Loading Artist, Home or Finishing?
also if it still won't start can try editing ejukebox.ini and set
[Songlist]
Carousel=0

OK, that one did it. I reloaded the EJ skin and restarted. Everything is back to normal. Now I'm gonna go check out the new features. Thank you very
much for the support.

awesome! Thanks for sticking with me
I have updated the full and upgrade installers to fix this. When you have a second please download the upgrade from audiosoft.net/download.htm and make sure it still works for you. It will make the
startup show 5.0. It should work...but would like to know for sure the next upgrades with be OK on your system. you can rename your ejukebox.exe first
and restore it if there is a problem.
