Yes Demnos, the bug was explained in your error message...
You can fix the problem for you guys following these instructions:
http://www.ascentive.com/support/new/support_dll.phtml?dllname=COMCTL32.OCX
I've used the first solution, but I think the alternate method which only copy and register the comctl32.ocx file should be sufficient.
Thank you very much for your judicious remark Demnos!
NB: Personnally I think that night I've missed this error message box just because I was not in front of my PC just as the clean database building
was done...
And to think that was one of my first tests with this bug...
But finally it's a happy end!! |
Allrighty then ! cool, and I'm back up and running 3.98 too. It actually seemed to speed up my entire system just a bit.

Now that is what I call teamwork!!! I actually had googled for this as well but what I found didn't really raise my hopes of fixing the problem. Your
persistence paid off! Thanks, Pirk!

Ah well you are right Demnos, the team really exists! We are the Audiosoft Team!
But we would be nothing without our great team manager Audiosoft!

Nice work guys!...saved me allot of headache
Turns out this problem orginates in the addition of the new webbrowser status bar within eJukebox which uses comctl32.ocx. Now I just have to add
comctl32.ocx to the installer and have it register the file.

Just updated the full install and upgrade downloads to correct this problem. Hopefully that fixes it for good. Thanks again guys.
If you ran into this problem and haven't fixed it manually already - downloading the new upgrade file should fix it. Let me know if it does not.
Also, you may have noticed the setup downloads are getting kinda large now... it will be nice after v4.0 when i can make the upgrades under 1MB and
require v4.0 be installed before any later upgrades can be used.

If you use the download from the official download from Microsoft, which is HERE , then save it to your desktop, then run it, Windows auto installs it and then you have to re-boot.
This is the way I got rid of this problem, and is a LOT simpler than using Pirks link(sorry Pirk, but I like a nice simple solution as I am not a very
computer literate person).
It worked first time and I have had no problems since.

The v3.98 Upgrade installer should fix this problem now...so you can re-download and re-install v3.98 - (you might have to restart your computer) and
it should fix the startup problem. If anyone is having this problem 'right now' please give the new official upgrade download a shot instead of the
.ocx download and let me know if it fixes it. I would really appreciate some feedback on if the new v3.98 Upgrade download file fixes the problem.

Dear Audiosoft,
I hadn't actually installed Pirk's fix yet. Just downloaded the newest 3.98 upgrade and can confirm that it resolves the problem even on machines
that didn't do a manual update yet.

Just installed the upgrade again and it works now. What is with the new balloon that appears when you edit the genre etc. It just stays there after it
has completed the task and I need to keep moving it out of the way to view different parts of the screen? The increase to 1000 newest songs is
excellent, helps me greatly.
