Mouseless Operation with ONE HAND
Sounds strange, but I have been experimenting with the best and fastest way to PLAY, CONTROL and RATE music.
Index:
1 Select VOLUME
2 RATE a song
3 SEARCH for a song
1)
Volume should not be increased / decreased by holding a key for 2 secs.
It should be controlled DIRECTLY, by 2 keys:
enter :"V , 5": Sets the volume to 50%
===================================
V: Shows VolumeMode, showing the current volume setting say (20%)
5: Moves the volume automatically to 50%
enter: "V, +++": Sets the volume to +3%
====================================
2)
Current situation is almost perfect. It only cannot be controlled by ONE HAND.
enter: "R , 7: Rates the current song 3.5 stars
============================================
3a)
Say we want to search for an unknown song from madonna, that we only know the title of, when we SEE it:
enter: "S, mado, page down, 9, <-"
================================
S: Shows Search mode and the already available keyboard layout.
mado: Shows the list of all songs with the string 'mado'. Say the list is two page
long. We don't need the scrolling bar perse
page-down: The list shows the next page, a we recogize our song: 'La isla bonita'. We see that it is on the 9th place
9: The song "La isla bonita changes colour to indicate selection.
<-: The left arrow puts the song into the playlist.
3b) Say we want to search for "Prince, Sign 'o' the times":
enter: "S, Prin time,G,<-"
========================
S: Search mode
prin time: Show all matching songs:
say that the matching list is 24 hits long,
than it should be numbered from 1-9,A-N
Lets sayb the 16th place is the requested song.
G: Selects the 16th song
<-: Adds it to the playlist
Why not use a mouse?
Because :
1) My eJukebox is in the living room, where I don't want to waste space for a mouse.
2) Control by mouse takes more time that the keyboard.
3) They get dirty (especially in the living room) Keysboards don't.
Why use one hand?
Is easier with a beer in your hands, which is common on parties.
