eJukebox doesn't work anymore with Winamp [Fixed -> Really?? Are you sure?]
Pirk - 8-3-2007 at 08:22 PM

Audiosoft,

I've reinstalled ejukebox v4.80 on a new folder on Vista, and it doesn't work with winamp! :(
I can use the internal player, but each time I try to switch to winamp the ejukebox now playing panel shows "internet radio" and there is only one song in the Winamp playlist. All that using the default eJukebox options since eJ is newly installed. I can't get it going again, whatever I do!? Help! :o

Thanks.

Audiosoft - 8-3-2007 at 09:06 PM

Sounds like a problem with Vista virtualization.
Have you tried checking internal player -> manually open winamp --> check Use Winamp?

Audiosoft - 8-3-2007 at 09:28 PM

OK I think I have found the problem. Try this ejukebox.exe out and let me know if winamp works again with eJukebox on vista.

Pirk - 8-3-2007 at 09:35 PM

Well I've just tried to open Winamp first then to check winamp in ej but it makes no difference: The now playing panel shows "internet radio" while it plays the song it was playing with the internal player. And when thhis song ends nothing more. eJ just stops.

That's true that Vista virtualize ejukebox. All the files modified are stored in a user specific folder:
C:UsersUserNameAppDataLocalVirtualStoreProgram FileseJukebox
I've noticed that Winamp also use another specific folder:
C:UsersUserNameAppDataRoamingWinamp

Maybe that could help you to solve this problem?

Audiosoft - 8-3-2007 at 09:43 PM

any luck with the ejukebox.exe?

Pirk - 8-3-2007 at 09:43 PM

Thanks a lot for this try Audiosoft: unfortunately still no good. This time I get a white nowplaying panel as variant when I switch to winamp.

Audiosoft - 8-3-2007 at 09:45 PM

While using that ejukebox.exe does C:Progam FilesWinampwinamp.m3u exist?
Check if the 2 song paths listed in C:UsersUserNameAppDataRoamingWinampwinamp.m3u are correct.
Let me know and I should be able to fix it with a new ejukebox.exe.

When you use winamp you can click to play a song and eJukebox and you hear it right? the now playing is just wrong right?

Audiosoft - 8-3-2007 at 09:56 PM

OK give this ejukebox.exe a try

Pirk - 8-3-2007 at 09:58 PM

It exists a "C:Program FilesWinampWinamp.m3u":
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:5,demo
demo.mp3

The other winamp location: "C:UsersUserNameAppDataRoamingWinampWinamp.M3U8"
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:185,Caesars - Winter Song
H:Zic (DL 2006)Caesars - 2005 - Paper Tigers10. Winter Song.mp3

You can note the file extension: .m3u8 ??

So still only one song in the file..

Audiosoft - 8-3-2007 at 10:03 PM

ah so the file is .M3U8 now...that is probably the problem.
so there is no AppDataRoaming/Winamp/Winamp.M3U?

Pirk - 8-3-2007 at 10:09 PM

Only a AppDataRoamingWinampWinamp.m3u8 file, there is no .m3u..

OK, I hope the problem is there. :)

Pirk - 8-3-2007 at 10:21 PM

Thanks.. well this time with your 4.813, there are now Two versions of the winamp playlists (in roaming..): a winamp.m3u8 and a winamp.m3u! but none of them having 2 songs in it.. still only one song!

Audiosoft - 8-3-2007 at 10:25 PM

are you still getting "internet radio"? Play a song via the songlist in eJukebox while using winamp. Then add 2 songs to the eJukebox playlist. Is the song you played in the .m3u8? Is the first song in the playlist in it?

Pirk - 8-3-2007 at 10:42 PM

Yes I still get "internet radio" displayed in the artistname and songname fields plus a yellow strip which scrolls the song name on top! And the no cover image is displayed instead of the right album cover.

The song in the .m3u8 is not the current playing song but the first song of the ejukebox playlist.

PS: sorry for my typing errors..

Audiosoft - 8-3-2007 at 10:59 PM

give this one a try

Pirk - 8-3-2007 at 11:09 PM

still the same.. (4.814)

Audiosoft - 8-3-2007 at 11:25 PM

ok one more try

Pirk - 8-3-2007 at 11:41 PM

well still fail.. (4.815) Should I return to XP?! :(

Audiosoft - 8-3-2007 at 11:45 PM

Well I should be able to figure this one out. Give me a chance to test on Vista tonight. Hopefully I will have a fix for you by tomorrow.
Can you check to see if the file listed in the .m3u8 has the exact same fpath as the song in the database?

Pirk - 8-3-2007 at 11:56 PM

OK, of course I'm sure you will fix it very soon. ;) I just don't understand why I experience this bug now? My PC is new (exchanged under warranty), so Vista freshly installed. All was good for ejukebox on vista with the other PC! But it was just sounding like a rocket!! The new one is a lot more quiet..

Thanks.

Audiosoft - 8-4-2007 at 12:06 AM

OK I am on Vista now. It worked fine until I updated winamp from v5.33 to v5.35. now i got the radio like you...need to figure out what changed in the new winamp.

Yes the fpath is exactly the same.

I just could say that my mp3s are stored on a second drive which "they" have installed with RAID drivers, but I've disabled the raid feature in the bios and I boot vista on another non-raid drive.. However the original "raid" drive (with the mp3s) is still available in vista. I hope that will not drive me to future problems?

Ah right! You reassure me! :) So you will be able to track the bug more easily now.. You are right, I've also installed the last winamp... Thanks.

Audiosoft - 8-4-2007 at 03:07 AM

Problem Fixed!
eJukebox will now synchronize with the new winamp and will not get stuck on internet radio.

v4.82 is now available for Download

Pirk - 8-4-2007 at 10:07 AM

Thank you very much Audiosoft!

PS: Nothing to do with it, but I've also a new wireless multimedia keyboard: All the play controls and sound volume are working perfectly natively with eJukebox! It's a shame that the keyboard don't also have a small screen included!! :D

janborup - 8-4-2007 at 10:33 PM

Hi Friends

I'm breaking in from the threat on, with the same problems : http://www.audiosoft.net/forums/viewthread.php?tid=2111

At first at new exe file at 4.817 do NOT work, but then I smach the keyboard, to try find out what's where wrong.

Uninstall/Install eJukebox do not work, after several try.

Then I tried to downgrade WinAmp to ver. 5.23. Still frozzen.

Then the clue with Vista in others directory, could be a localiciation problem, and I have the program installed in C:ProgrammereJukebox, so I tried to install it in C:Program fileseJukebox. STILL FROZZEN.

BUT - then the breaktrough.

What about replacing the Winamp... and YES... IF I install WinAmp in C:Program filesWinamp, and not the normal C:ProgrammerWinamp - then it works.

There is still some bugs to go on with:
- I still crashes, if I try to click the Internet Radio-link.
- The Uninstall removes only 2-3 files, the rest i remaining.

BUT the Prev, Next, Playlist and Album now works.

Best regards

Jan Borup Coyle

Audiosoft,

Well NO, the problem is NOT fixed with ejukebox v4.863 and Vista: after I've listened to a Internet radio ejukebox is still unable to synchronise correctly with winamp. The now playing panel is never updated.. Note that the NP panel was already not updated when I listened to the radio.
I can try to describe more precisely what it happens if you want more precisions??

Thanks.

janborup - 9-25-2007 at 01:05 PM

Hello Pirk

I think I can help you after my own research.

Take a look at the eJukebox.ini fil:
.....
[Winamp]
Dir=C:Program FilesWinamp
UseWMP4Video=1
.....

Change the WinAmp dir, so it fit's you installation folder for you Winamp, and then it should work.

Cheers Borup

Pirk - 9-25-2007 at 01:17 PM

Hi janborup,

Thanks for your help, I appreciate much, but unfortunately your trick doesn't work for me on Vista. The winamp path is the right one in my ejukebox.ini file. This bug only occurs AFTER I've listened to a Internet radio from eJukebox.

Pirk - 9-25-2007 at 03:34 PM

Audiosoft,

My winamp.m3u file in C:UsersMyUserNameAppDataRoamingWinamp:
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:187,Cliff Richard - Sometimes Love
H:ZicCliff Richard - 2004 - Something's Goin On5. Sometimes Love.mp3

If that can help..

PS: And now the problem persists even if I select the ejukebox INTERNAL player!! :o

Pirk - 9-25-2007 at 03:37 PM

And now the best.. Since I've restarted ejukebox (so the internal player is still selected and winamp is not running), it chains songs from a album that has nothing to do with the up next song or the now playing panel: A kind of "ghost player". What's this?? :o :o :o I've killed ejukebox to be sure that was it who played the songs.. but that was it!

Man, I think that you are not ready to spread the world... :( CLEAN your code please..

Thanks.

EDIT: After one more restart, eJukebox seems to be landed on its feet! It works again good with the internal player. And I've just switched on winamp: it works also normally. The storm has gone.. but I know it is still retreated behind the Internet radio feature... Crazy!

Dyno Don - 10-2-2007 at 12:56 PM

Yes, If you get the dreaded "internet radio bug" it is hard to shake. Editing the .ini for the right path to winamp doesn't help. It does help to keep only one copy of winamp on your machine. Winamp likes to take over and I find the wrong one running. Switching back and forth to WMP helps too. Or starting winamp, play a song in it, and then start ej.

Don

Pirk - 10-2-2007 at 07:10 PM

Ah! Thanks for your support Dyno Don.. Glad I'm not the only one who experiences the internet radio bug! Yes indeed I still ended to fix ej, but the internet radio bug is not less there: It is just waiting I listen radios once again! Of course I can live without the internet radios in ej, that's not really primordial: I would prefer a better autoplay mode (moods), but it's another subject.
