CD to MP3 Crash
TheDude - 5-21-2003 at 07:59 PM

Upon inserting the CD to get ripped, the program will bring up another window asking to "Create MP3 Audio Files". When
I click on "Go", the program crashes and terminates the EJukebox program.

I just added more RAM, so this couldn't be the problem.

This may be due to the folder that you have specified the ripped mp3s to be saved to - not existing.

Let us know if that could be the case. I believed we have already fixed that problem for the next version (after v3.12).

I posted this bug as "Crashing On Importing CDs" with no response! It is the same. And yes I let the program create the folders for me. At least I think it used to. I will go try it right away.

I have the same problem with the rip-function. And no, it's not only if the directory does not exists.

The crash occurs, when I try to build a mp3-File with VBR. there are noch problems with the constant bit rates.

By the way, is there a way to choose the codec EJ uses? I would like to use the LameCodec (maybe it does it anyway)
And I would like to change the way the filenames are generated.

Thanks for the info we should have this fixed and have a new version out this week. The Ripper already uses LAME for encoding. User specified filename construction options will also be apart of the next version.

What specifically are the "noch" problems with the Constant bitrates?

Confirming. It works fine if the parent directory exists. If not, crash.

Thanks for the confirmation on that Dyno Don.

I believe we have this fixed now. When v3.18 is released let us know if you still experience problems.

v3.18 will automatically create the folder when a folder name is specified in the Save Path that does not yet exist.
It will also let you create sub folders for each CD based on your own naming format as well as customized file names using text constructors like <album><artist> - <title>.mp3.

Brandir,
What specifically are the "noch" problems with the Constant bitrates?

ooops!
I haven't seen your Question before, sorry.
But it was just a language-problem :-)
"noch" is the german word for "still" and I was just a little bit confused :)

But unfortunatly the problem still (or noch :) ) exists in Version 3.3
When I try to use VBR, EJ crashes.
