Original Title: New version messes up ID3 tags
First of all, I have been using eJ since 2.something, so I know my way around it I would say
Anyways, what happened was that I moved my mp3 files to another HD og then rebuild the database on that drive....now iI suddenly have 1471 songs with
# names instead of the artist name. eJ have taken the artist name from the file instead of the ID3 tag.
Almost all my ID3 tags are perfect, and they are the same in ID3v1 and in ID3v2.
So why does it do this? and how do I/you fix it, since I don't really feel like renaming 1400 songs in the Ejukebox editor.
P.S. Alle the files/ID3 tags worked fine before, they only thing I did was to move them from one HD to another and rebuild the database
Hi Blaze,
I think you should check your tags!
I joke...
Maybe Audiosoft has modified something in the latest eJukebox version(s) ??
I don't moved my mp3 files or rebuilded the database recently...
Hmmm that doesn't help much.
I hope they can do something about it, cause it's very annoying, and it's gonna take forever to edit them with eJ.
Can anybody try to take, just some of their songs, and move them like I did and rebuild the database on them, just to see if I'm the only one with
this probelm.
Well... I'm not very keen on messing up my ID3 tags!
Unless if I could do that on my old PC using a old hdd, just to see... Hmmm...
Only currently it is dismantled!
I understand...hopefully Audiosoft will see this post and respond to it
Yes, I hope too!
Don't worry Blaze, I'm sure they will test that on one of their numerous test machines...
Nothing has changed with the id3 tag reading/writing in eJukebox in a long time. Have you tried full installing eJukebox to a new folder to see if the
songs are recognized correctly with the first time database setup?
Also, what id3v2.x are they tagged in?
I have just tried to istall it to a new folder, and now 731 of the songs are without the correct ID3 tag.
Mind you, I have not changed anything in the tags in a long time, the only thing I did was to move the files from one HD to another.
And this is a new problem, it have worked just fine untill I installed this new version.
I have been using Tag&Rename 3.2 to make the ID3 tags.
One other thing I noticed is that when eJ have played a song, the ID3 tag disapears if you check them in Tag&Rename...?! Both v1 and v2
I have just tried to rebuild the files from the old HD, and it's the same...same songs with no ID3 tag.
P.S. a lot of the files that are missing ID tags have not been played ever.
To show you the problem I have rebuild eJ around one album.
Installed in a new folder and everything. I also tried with the older 3.98 version, but it's the same.
This is the album in Tag&Rename
And this is the album in eJ
It doesn't make any sense
Nevermind...I found the problem. It seems that it is Tag&rename 3.2 that causes the problem.
I tried rewriting the tags with 2.05 and now it works.
3.2 messes them up just by reading them, you don't even have to edit....just a warning
So now comes the work with rewriting all the songs in 2.05
Ah?! Really?
OK, so I will try to avoid T&R 3.2! (Currently I only "try" 3.1.5... )
Thanks Blaze, good luck...
So, Blaze, if you re-read that same U2 album in T&R 3.2rc1, will the titles "look" correct or will they appear messed up as they are in eJ?
Have you tried rc2 to see if that problem has been fixed?
Thanks,
Steve
I have the same issue using MP3tag V2.34a . After editing the tags with MP3tag and importing the files into ejukebox I only get the filename in
ejukebox.
Hmm. I tried to edit the tags manualy within the windows fileinfos. And it works. I get the right tag infos in ejukebox. So it seems that there are
some issues between MP3TAG and ejukebox.
Now I tried to reedit the tags with a old version of MP3tag V2.30 . And yes it works. I get the right tags in ejukebox if I have edited the files with
MP3tag V2.30.
The interessting thing by the way is, if I using MP3tag V2.30 to read files I taged with MP3tag V2.34a I get the same crapped result as within
ejukebox. I only see the filenames and all tags seems to be lost.
That means there have been some changes in the way of writing or interpreting the tags between MP3tag v2.30 and v2.34a. And I'm really sure that is
not a bug within MP3tag. I suppose there are some new informatinos that are still not implemented within ejukebox (www.audiosoft.net)?
I will also post that in the MP3tag forum hoping to get a good answer.
I get it:
"Die wohl größte Neuerung in dieser Version ist die Unterstützung von Unicode. So schreibt Mp3tag nun standardmäßig ID3v2 Tags im Unicode Format
(UTF-16).
schreiben."
Means the tagging programs now write tags in th Unicode Format UTF-16 by deault. Seems ejukebox dont support UTF-16 in the moment. So you have to use
an older tagging program or find a option in you program to write the tags in the former ISO-8859-1 format like MP3tag can do.
