What about a filter for the Albumlist which could COMBINE Genres, Years and Popularity available from the existing Options menu?
That could be something like this:
Attractive, no?
Audiosoft,
Reading my post above, I guess you'll think "That could be a good idea, but as there are any genre and year informations specifically for
the albums we can't do that!"
Nevertheless each time you extract a CD in mp3s, you or the CDDB look-up put a ID3 year and also a ID3 genre which is the same for each song of the
album, right?
So why don't use these informations to make some filters for the albumlist?
Thus each time you need to know an album genre and year, all that is necessary is to use those of the FIRST song of this album.
What you think?
Well, we discussed something similar here once, and Audiosoft argued that some users could potentially have assigned different genres to different
tracks of an album. Especially for compilations, soundtracks etc.
Personally, I don't do this and seriously doubt that many users will really be working this way. In fact, I even use a special genre
"Soundtracks" to bypass the problem that a soundtrack album may have tracks in styles country, punk and reggae on the same album. And yes,
there are some artists that mix 2 styles on one album, but I would think most users would then pick one, just like CDDB does.
Bottom line: I think you are right!
Hi Demnos!
Happy to hear the sound of your voice!
But luckily, you are still there for the important things!
Thank you for your support.
Well, "Mr. 241 posts", I couldn't let you run this entire forum all by yourself now, could I? Then again, I know it is in good hands, so keep on going!!!
PS: Just 3 more posts and you have overtaken Audiosoft...
Mr Demnos,
I just regret a bit when you was more active, before the forums destruction... (with a Mr "Mabonetti", I believe).
You was one of the principal actors of the eJukebox development!
I do everything possible to still animate the forums, but when we are large people like now, it's better no?
True...that was at the time when I was building up my MP3 collection and had to fight with the various idiosyncracies of eJukebox. I guess I have
simply adjusted myself to the various workarounds that were and for the most part still are required.
Now that all my CDs are fully encoded and tagged, and I have taken care to adjust my collection to the needs of eJukebox (things like one-letter album
names, albums that are only named after the artist, the "greates hitst" problems of compilations, the "VI becoming Vi" and the
many other bugs) there is just not that much new to report.
Also, I have to confess, that I am a bit disappointed at the level of involvement of Audiosoft in this section of the forum ( "Requested
Features" ). In the old forum, they would really get involved in discussing how new features should be implemented, pros and cons etc. It seems
like now, we are discussing key features such as the "rating system" completely among ourselves without ever knowing what Audiosoft thinks.
And also on the many other great suggestion here, we almost never see any feedback such as "yes, we will consider this" etc.
So I really admire all the great work that you and others like junk, DynoDon, Rich, etc. (sorry for those I forget to name here) are doing in order to
keep the forum lively and bringing eJukebox forward.
Thank you for express us your feeling.
In spite of everything, Audiosoft really merit to be supported.
Don't forget that a new version of eJukebox is planned very soon. The new season just start after the summer vacation...
I wait for the promised .dis files. And I still dream about a filter for the Albumlist!
And just as you spoke...the new version 3.3. got released. Just in time for the weekend, can't wait to try it out!
