Copy protected CDs?
Pirk - 6-22-2003 at 10:44 AM

As you know, at the present time a lot of CDs are protected against copy.
Have you planned the CD Ripper be able to extract them?

Thanks.

Yes, eJukebox's CD ripper is already able to extract tracks from copyprotected CDs.

Really? That's great!
What are the type of protections already supported?

If I put a "Copy Controlled" CD that doesn't work. i.e. I can't extract the latest Radiohead CD "Hail to the Thief".

Thanks.

Pirk,

Have you any luck ripping Hail to the Thief? I am refusing to purchase any copy-protected CDs, and I am rather outraged that the record industry is treating consumers in this manner. If I want to rip and encode a CD that I purchased in order to listen to it in a more convienent format, than I should have every right to do so.

In fact YES.
I have tried to extract the CD using my CD Writer instead of my CD/DVD Player and that work! I don't know why, but I guess this is because my CD Writer is more recent than my DVD Player...
So I will remember my CD Writer is more fitted to copy protected CDs.

I agree, concerning the purchase of copy-protected CDs. But unfortunately we don't have the choice and until now when I like an artist I purchase even though his new album...hopping I will be able to rip it.
