i am trying to build up a fool proof party jukebox system and would like to use E-jukebox. however trouble we have is that most party goers are too drunk at the end of the night to shut down a computer using the correct proceedure, so they simply power it off with the on/off/reset button or pull out the power plug.
The trouble begins when the system is tried to boot up again after being turned off like this. Ejukebox doesnt particarly like this. Does anyone have any idea on how i can setup a jukebox allowing for this method of "shutdown"

Copy the EJ shortcut on the windows Desktop to the start menu's Start Up folder.

also you may want to
Click the maximize button at the top left in EJukebox.
Select Kiosk Mode from the menu
Check 'Start in Kiosk Mode'

I think Phil is referring to the fact that if EJ isn't shutdown gracefully, it's prone to Database corruption which can prevent it from loading up next time.

Is there a way we could send a commandline to EJ that could start a 'graceful shutdown' with or without DB compaction?


Phil you could then use this with something like Kiwi

to automate shutdown at X time. Better yet, to thwart those drunkards, get a UPS that offers 'graceful' computer shutdown after X amount of time. If the power gets killed, the system keeps running for a moment and if it continues that way it will fire off commands to shut the computer down properly.

Also, if you're having issues with he 'reset' button, just block it off, or remove the reset wire from the mother board. You could even run the switch to a 'safe' area behind the machine if you still wanted a reset button.
