As requested we now have a better Installer for eJukebox!
No more msdart errors! Is Full Install and will upgrade if you install over existing. Includes uninstaller.exe and add/remove programs entry. When you
run installer it will automatically close eJukebox before installing the new exe. I have tested and it seems good! Please test on your system and let
me know if you experience any problems.
Thanks for this new installer Audiosoft! So I'm trying it as requested. It seems very user-friendly but I have this error at the beginning of the install:
I Get a pop up box saying -
[Title] ejukebox 4.99.45 Installation
[body]
An error occurred while trying to copy a file:
C:Windowssystem32shlwapi.dll
Click retry to try again, Ignore to proceed anyway, or Abort to cancel installation
Edit - was in the middle of typing when Pirk posted! - exact same error as he has!
If I click "ignore" the same error occur with the next file: "COMDLG32.OCX". Then error again with the file "mshtml.tlb", then with
"msvcrt.dll", and finally I get the famous MSDART.DLL error!!! But
the installer ends to say that ejukebox has been installed. I don't know if ej has been really reinstalled or not as I installed v4.99.45 over
v4.99.45.
Well_Jaggy, OK.. so I'm not alone!
thanks guys. wow...u really still see msdart error with new installer on 2k/vista? can you click ignore like others on msdart error? i wonder what is tripping that error because msdart is not in the installer. Will try to get the installer to auto ignore. Half these system files probably don't need to be in the installer anymore since they come with windows.
Audiosoft, don't worry to much about that, we have all the time.. I will test again when you are ready. I don't know if it's exactly the same error
than before, but yes I can cancel the new msdart error, well there is just a OK button then the installer seems to continue until the end as it offers
to run ejukebox, and ej runs normally.
Thanks a lot for your work.
If that can help here is a capture of the msdart error:
Thanks Pirk!
Just wondering when in the install msdart error happens....can you tell me what it shows for the installer status text above the progressbar UNDER the
msdart error dialog?
OK Audiosoft: It says "Registering: msjro.dll"
Thanks Pirk!
OK guys I have removed reg of that file so hopefully no more dart error. This is now set to skip existing system32 files (instead of trying to replace
when ej install has newer) which should get rid of other errors. Let me know if still see any.
Perfect Audiosoft, this time the new installer runs with pleasure until the end without any error at all.. Bravo!
awesome! finally we know the cause of the msdart error!
now the question is should we use this new installer or go back to the old installer if i can fix the msdart error in it the same way? The new
installer does have the uninstall and close ejukebox automatically benefits but it cannot remember the last ej install path like the old one so if
your are not in C:eJukebox you would have to type your install path every time you upgrade. Maybe we should just wait until a new version of the
install creator comes out that supports remembering the last install path...and until then use old installer with msdart fixed. What do you think?
Ah ahh.. well I don't know? If you can fix msdart for the old installer why not.. but the new installer is more user-friendly.. You are the boss!
tough call well lets first test if the old installer works dart free first
i never have gotten the error here on XP. let me know if you still get darted with this one.
No more error with the old installer! Nice work Audiosoft, as usual!
Thanks again Pirk! If it wasn't for the new installer and you getting that Vista screenshot msdart would still be hiding!
I have updated the download page links full and upgrade to be msdart error free using the old installer. Once can get it to remember the path it
installed eJukebox for upgrades will switch to the new installer.
I'm always glad to contribute to ejukebox.. even if it's a bit in spite of me sometimes!
PS: Strange graphics on my Homeview currently: (?)
Pirk, WINGDNG3.TTF must not be registered. might be problem with the new installer or vista.
Audiosoft, well since I restarted my system the arrows are there again..
yep, just tried the NEW2 installer -
and got all the way through with no errors. I hoped it would solve my "hanging" problem, but no joy.
